As you may have heard, Firsthand is now the official, exclusive distributor for Reynolds bicycle tubing in North America. Andy Newlands' Torch & File, a long-standing Portland framebuilding landmark, has been the Reynolds dealer in these parts for over 20 years. Andy has decided to hang up the torch, and I've been working with he and Reynolds for the last few months to transition the tubing supply business to this new venture.
Andy is leaving large shoes to fill, and the pressure to represent Reynolds well here in the US is very real. I don't take any of it lightly, and I hope that ushering in this new era represents an exciting change for Reynolds' fans.
Over the next few months, we'll be getting our store shelves fully stocked up. My goal is to carry as much Reynolds here in Portland as possible. If you have concerns or desires for stocked items, please reach out. The more requests I receive, the more accurate I can be in our projections and stock levels.
And before you ask, Yes, we are also (eventually) taking over the titanium sales as well. For now, all of the Reynolds titanium will remain with Dave Levy's Ti Cycles here in Portland. Look for Firsthand to begin carrying Reynolds Ti this coming spring/summer.
